In 2026, the DiverMojo Foundation will once again bring a group of preschool children to a local Maine beach for a clean-up experience — because protecting our ocean begins with inspiring the next generation to love it.

After the clean-up, our Director of Education will guide the children through a day of ocean discovery: creating sea-themed crafts, reading stories about why our oceans matter, dancing like sea creatures, singing about sharks, laughing, and learning how even the smallest hands can help protect our blue planet. These moments may seem small, but the ripples they create are powerful.

They spread from child to family to community — reaching far beyond one beach, one classroom, or one state. Together, we are helping shape a future generation of ocean stewards.

YOU CAN HELP TOO

Ocean conservation does not have to begin with a formal program or a nonprofit organization.

 

It doesn't have to be a "formal" program. 

You don't have to be a teacher. 

"We" don't have to lead the program.

It doesn't have to involve children.  

 

Every one of us has the power to create change — on World Oceans Day and on every ordinary Tuesday in between.

 

You might:

​

• Partner with a local school and create an ocean-themed craft with students.
• Ask if you can decorate a school bulletin board with messages about marine conservation.
• Donate to support ocean protection efforts.
• Visit a classroom and read children’s books about the ocean.  Bring other children with you.  
• Organize a beach clean-up with family and friends.
• Speak with a Scout troop or youth group about reducing single-use plastics.
• Choose something from this list and start there. 

 

Every action matters. Every conversation matters.
